Dr. Kimberly Abels has been the Director of the Writing Center at UNC-Chapel Hill for eight years. She enjoys the challenge and potential of working with technology.

Marycarmen specializes in technology innovation, technology strategy, knowledge management, distributed education and technology implementation. Her master’s degree is in Management information Systems from Monterrey Tec (ITESM). Aguilar is responsible to promote, design, develop and implement innovative educational projects in Kenan Flagler business School and their international partners. Previously, Marycarmen worked for ITESM's Virtual University as an International technology consultant and as Director of Information System Technology and for ITESM's business school (EGADE). Aguilar was responsible for IT strategy, planning, design and development of collaborative international programs, and IT support to students and faculty as well to lead the new international programs with use of educational technology. She also taught courses in computer information systems and information system management in Monterrey. Carolyn L. Anderson,CCP,Ph.D. is currently the Associate Director of CITTLE at Winston-Salem State University. She has taught mathematics, computer science, and business courses at both university and community college levels. She currently is team teaching a course in the Management Information Systems Department.

Dr. Larry Arnold, Associate Professor of Music at UNC Pembroke, is active in jazz studies, music theory, and music and electronic music composition. His role as a collaborator in the UNC Pembroke Digital Academy is a natural extension of his long standing interest in electronically recording, synthesizing and creatively manipulating sound, and over 20 years exploring the use of computers in teaching music.

Jana Avery is the eLearning Systems Administrator for the Faculty Center for Teaching and e-Learning at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Included in her administration duties are systems such as WebCT, Turnitin, and Respondus.

Susannah Benedetti is Special Formats Catalog Librarian at Randall Library at UNC-Wilmington. She catalogs a wide variety of non-print materials including electronic resources, video recordings, sound recordings, maps, flat graphics, and artifacts. She also works with EAD in conjunction with the Archives and Special Collections department.

Beth Bernhardt is the Electronic Journals / Document Delivery Librarian at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has helped develop and promote Jackson Library's Journal Finder product. Beth has 16 years of experience working in academic libraries and is currently the Submissions Editor for the NASIG Newsletter and an instructor for NC LIVE.

Betty L Black received a B.A. degree in Biology from Lindenwood College, a M.S. degree from Vanderbilt University, and a Ph.D. from Washington University (St. Louis). She pursued postdoctoral studies at Washington University Medical School and joined the faculty at NC State University in 1979. As a Professor of Zoology she conducts research on development of embryonic intestine, works on the bioMovies multi-media project, and teaches courses in Developmental Anatomy and Histology, including an internet distance education course.

As the Coordinator of Instructional Systems and Associate Manager of Technology Development, James oversees steering, planning, outreach, design, policy, operations, implementation, and accessibility for NC State University's Enterprise Learning Management System. James is a graduate of NC State with a degree in Computer Science and has worked for the University in various capacities since 1997. James worked for a year as a technology consultant to the UNC Teaching and Learning with Technology Collaborative and joined DELTA in early 2001.

Terry W. Brandsma is the Information Technology Librarian at Walter Clinton Jackson Library, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In addition to being a Webmaster, teacher, and hardware/software/network support specialist, he is the integrated library system administrator and online catalog programmer.

Alan Branigan is Director of Educational and Technical Support at the Eastern Area Health Education Center and Lecturer in Family Medicine at the Brody School of Medicine. Formerly he was the Blackboard Administrator and Instructional Technology Consultant for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. He holds Masters from Johns Hopkins and East Carolina Universities.

Steve Breiner is the Associate Director of IT Services for Instructional Computing at Appalachian State University and a member of the Board of the UNC TLT Collaborative. Roughly six years ago, he was placed on special assignment by the Provost to coordinate a number of exploratory projects at Appalachian dealing with influences of computers on teaching and learning from both faculty and student standpoints. Over time, the special projects evolved into essential ones and Breiner was asked to create new division of Information Technology Services called Instructional Computing Services (ICS) to address the adaptation of computing to the pedagogical needs of the university community. Breiner, as a part of ICS, now supports, consults with, and educates faculty who work to enhance their teaching with technological tools and, to keep a horse in the race, regularly teaches undergraduate chemistry courses.

Scott is Director of Online Learning The Division of Continual Learning at UNCG. Currently, Scott and his staff are working to develop online courses for two online degree programs--The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) degree and the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) degree.

Molly Corbett Broad has served as President of the 16-campus University of North Carolina since July 1997. Active in an array of professional and civic organizations, Broad has written and spoken widely on strategic planning for higher education, emerging technologies, and K-16 partnerships. She is past president for the International Council for Distance Education and currently chairs the Internet2 Board of Trustees. She holds seats on the boards and executive committees of the Business-Higher Education Forum, the National Council on Competitiveness, the National Association of University System Heads, MCNC, and RTI International among others.

Dr. Betsy Brown, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of North Carolina Office of the President, is responsible for faculty support, international coordination, and leadership development for the UNC system. David Lombard Harrison is Associate Vice President for Legal Affairs for the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina. His primary duties for the Office of the President are to provide legal advice and assistance concerning intellectual property, information technology, research regulations, technology transfer, purchasing, and finance related issues. He also serves as counsel for the 11-station statewide University of North Carolina Center for Public Television and The University of North Carolina Press. Mr. Harrison is licensed to practice law in both state and federal trial and appellate courts, and is a life member of the Tribal Bar of the Saginaw-Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. Harrison received his B.A. in philosophy from Grand Valley State University, and his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law. He has also studied at The University of Vienna, Austria. Mr. Harrison began his legal career as law clerk to Justice James H. Brickley in the Michigan Supreme Court. After serving with the court, he practiced trial and appellate litigation and business transactions as a shareholder and director of a Grand Rapids, Michigan, law firm. He served as Assistant General Counsel for Central Michigan University before joining the Office of the President at the University of North Carolina. Harrison is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and serves on its Committee for Continuing Legal Education. He is also a member of the Triangle Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, and serves on the Board of Trustees of The Council on Law in Higher Education, a think tank for higher education issues. Mr. Harrison has written and published articles and papers in the areas of intellectual property, information technology, privacy, research regulations, and other legal concerns, and gives presentations for national conferences in these areas. In addition to legal publications, Mr. Harrison has published regular essays and fiction for two national outdoor magazines, was Contributing Editor for River Explorer Magazine, has been a newspaper and magazine cartoonist, and has contributed as a performer and composer on a record album. He continues to pursue the art and craft of being a fly-fishing guide whenever possible, and attempts to maintain at least rank amateur status on guitar and mandolin.

Dr. Harold Heatwole is a Professor in the Zoology Department at North Carolina State University. He is an ecologist with a strong interest in herpetology. He holds three doctorates, a PhD in Zoology from the University of Michigan, a PhD in Botany from the University of Queensland (Australia), and a DSc from the University of New England (Australia).

Gail Hollowell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology and Co-Coordinator of the Technology Enhanced Learning in Science program at North Carolina Central University. Steven is the Information and Technology Coordinator for the TLTC and Online Services in the Office of the President for the University of North Carolina. Steven recently joined the Office of the President in November of 2004 after graduating with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Spring of 2003 with a BS in Computer Science. Dr. Joseph F. Johnson is Professor of Educational Leadership and Coordinator of the Master of School Administration Program (MSA) at Fayetteville State University, a constituent institution of The University of North Carolina. He teaches graduate courses in educational leadership for aspiring principals and school superintendents. He is the former Dean of the School of Education at Fayetteville State University having served in that capacity for five years.

Dr. Larry Johnson is Chief Executive Officer of the New Media Consortium (NMC), an international consortium of colleges, universities, museums and technology companies dedicated to using new technologies to inspire, energize, stimulate, and support learning and creative expression. He is an acknowledged expert on the effective application of information technology in higher education, and has authored a number of books, monographs, and articles on that topic, as well as on the related areas of distance learning, strategic planning, and institutional effectiveness. Dr. Johnson has more than 25 years of experience in higher education. His service includes roles as faculty, dean, senior executive, and president.

Dr. Yogi Kakad is Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He received his Doctorate from the University of Florida and joined the faculty at UNC Charlotte in 1976. He is the past president of the UNC Charlotte Faculty Council and is currently a member of the UNC Faculty Assembly.

For the past 17 years Dr. Kirk has worked as a professor at Western Carolina University where he directs a popular Masters of Science Degree Program in Human Resources. Prior to coming to Western, Dr. Kirk worked as a public school and community college instructor in Aurora, Illinois. He holds a doctorate from Northern Illinois University in Adult & Continuing Education and a Masters from Illinois University in Supervision of Instruction. In addition to his teaching, Dr. Kirk has provided consulting services to a variety of organizations in Illinois and North Carolina, served as a founding board member of the Academy of Human Resource Development, and published more than 120 articles in national publications. He and his wife Lynne are co-authors of two training books published by McGraw-Hill – Training Games for Career Development and Training Games for the Learning Organization. In recent years, Dr. Kirk has assumed a leadership role in the emerging field of E-Learning.

John Antoine Labadie was first trained as a painter and worked in industrial engineering, publishing and scientific illustration before coming to UNC Pembroke Art Department in 1994. John founded the Digital Arts program at UNCP and, together with his co-presenters, co-founded the Media Integration Project and Digital Academy on that campus. Labadie currently serves as Director of the UNC Pembroke Digital Academy and teaches digital arts, design and media integration courses.

I have been at UNC Charlotte since 1999, serving as AUL for Access and Outreach Services. The areas of service I manage include Circulation, Interlibrary Loan, Reserves, Stacks Maintenance, Distance Education Library Services, Public Relations/Marketing and Grants.

Patricia LeClaire holds an M.S. in Education (Online Teaching & Learning) from California State University. Dr. Tulla Lightfoot is Associate Professor in the Art Department of the University of North Carolina in Pembroke. Currently she teaches an online course in Art Education. In the past, she has taught online courses in Humanities and Critical Thinking for the University of Phoenix.

Dana has worked at UNCW for over nine years with the past four being in ITSD concentrating in online course development and training for faculty. Currently, Dana is the WebCT systems administrator on campus and supports all faculty WebCT development and training needs. She received her BS from ECE and her MA in Education from NCCU.

Dr. Lorden joined the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in 2003 after serving for over eight years as Associate Provost for Research and Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she was a Professor of Psychology. Dr. Lorden was elected Chair of the Board of Directors of the Council of Graduate Schools (2003) and spent the academic year 2002-03 as the Dean in Residence in the Division of Graduate Education at National Science Foundation. During 2002 and 2003, she was a member of the National Research Council's Committee on the Methodology for the Study of the Research Doctorate and chaired the Subcommittee on Student Processes and Outcomes.

Dr. Leggett is a Professor in the School of Education, Department of Elementary Education at Fayetteville State University. She teaches graduate courses in the Reading Education Program.

Dr. Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida, majoring in accounting; a Master of Arts in Education also from the University of South Florida, majoring in secondary business and vocational education; and a Doctor of Philosophy from Bowling Green State University, majoring in Higher Education Administration. After earning his BA, Dr. Mark practiced corporate accounting for over 10 years, primarily at the controller level. Dr. Marks 15+ year teaching career includes experience at the secondary, post-secondary, community college, undergraduate and graduate levels. His subject matter has primarily included business communications, office management and supervision, computer applications, and accounting. Currently Dr. Mark is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business, Career, and Technical Education at East Carolina University located in Greenville, North Carolina. At ECU his teaching areas are business communications, financial information systems, and computer hardware and software applications.

Dr. Ramin Cooper Maysami is an Associate Professor at the School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. His previous teaching experience includes an Associate Professorship at Nanyang Business School, Republic of Singapore and an Assistant Professorship at the University of Illinois at Springfield, USA. Dr. Maysami’s research experience is multi-disciplinary and crosses geographic borders. His main area of research is regulation of financial institutions and markets, with secondary interests in entrepreneurship and economic education. He has published on issues related to and concerning Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Chine (and Hong Kong), the Middle East, Mexico and the United States. In all he has published more than 50 articles in academic refereed journals and professional/trade publications.

Forrest McFeeters, Curriculum Designer in the Center of Teaching Technology Learning is one of many contributors to the creation of the online course development package. The design template was collaboratively developed by various departmental staff and faculty at Winston-Salem State University.

Mary Metzger is Staff Development and Instruction Librarian at the J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. Ms. Metzger comes to UNCC from New Jersey where she was a faculty member of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Most recently, Ms. Metzger was a member of the library instruction staff at Rutgers University where she also recently earned the MLIS degree.

Mabel Miguel is an adjunct professor of management and director of international programs for the Kenan-Flagler business school. Her research and teaching interests include multicultural management, global leadership, and international organizational behavior. In the school's highly innovative international executive MBA program, the OneMBA, Mabel leads a Global Management course requiring international collaboration of professors and students from five continents.

Dr. Mahnaz Moallem is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of Instructional Technology Master's Program in UNCW. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in instructional design and development. Dr. Moallem's research interests include instructional design models and principles, program design and evaluation and assessment and evaluation of learning & instruction

Antionette Moore is the Instructional Technologist for the Center for Innovative, Teaching, Technology, Learning and Evaluation (CITTLE) at Winston-Salem State University. Antionette assist faculty with integrating discipline specific information technologies and tools such as Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) into teaching. Antionette holds a bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems from High Point University and a master's degree in Instructional Technology from North Carolina A&T State University.

Jason Morningstar is the Accessibility Specialist for the Center for Instructional Technology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds an MSIS from the School of Information and Library Science at UNC Chapel Hill.

Roberto Muffoletto is coordinator of on an Internet delivered masters and certificate program focused on online teaching and learning. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, is a Fulbright Scholar, and co-editor of VASA, a multimedia journal on education, technology and culture. Currently he is an Associate Professor in the College of Education, Department of curriculum and instruction, Appalachian State University.

Percevial Murphy has been employed as an Information and Communication Specialist with ECU's Information Technology and Computing Services (ITCS) department since March 2003. His work with Strategic Initiatives' (a unit within ITCS) Communication and Design Team includes writing articles, editing and proofreading, and creating marketing materials (i.e. brochures flyer, poster and etc.) to assist other ITCS departments in effectively communicating with the campus, region and state. Before coming to ECU, Percevial's professional experiences include working as a Grant Writer/Distance Education Trainer for Lenoir Community in Kinston, NC and prior to that as a Training Specialist Intern for DSM Pharmaceuticals in Greenville, NC. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master of Arts in English with a concentration in Technical Professional Communication- both from ECU. Percevial spends a large amount of time working with various ministries with his church and much of his spare time singing, reading, writing or working out. Two of his goals are to become a Christian and Inspirational Writer and to produce his own plays.

As Program Coordinator for the TLT Collaborative, Ms. Nickerson supports the TLTC's statewide professional development activities for UNC faculty and staff, including the annual UNC Teaching and Learning with Technology Conference and the TLT Interest Group Initiative. She serves as UNC’s project director for MERLOT, an international cooperative for online instructional resources. She is also responsible for the TLTC’s identity and promotional materials.

Todd Nicolet is the Manager of the Online Instruction Group with the Instructional and Information Systems Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health. The Online Instruction Group provides the majority of development and support of instructional technology for the School as well as participating in grant-based public health education and research projects.

I have been actively involved in integrating technology into the classroom since the late 80s when an NSF grant (with C. Lytle) enabled us to be the first in our college to place computers on wet laboratory benches for use by our introductory biology students. An NCBC grant (with J Zimmerman) that soon followed enabled us to develop software that extended but did not replace the traditional hands on experience. I am currently interested in true interactive distance efforts and transforming the traditional lecture into an active learning environment, especially in large courses such as the non-science introductory biology course (over 200 students per section) I now teach.

Dr. Robert M. Panoff is founder and director of the Shodor Education Foundation in Durham, NC. Since 1991, Dr. Panoff has been working with NC colleges to improve the teaching of math and science through the appropriate uses of technology. He now directs the National Computational Science Institute, funded by the National Science Foundation, to bring computational science education to undergraduate institutions across the country.

William Papin is a visiting instructor in the department of Health and Human Performance at Western Carolina University. He has a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Geneva College and a Masters Degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Florida.

Jeff Passe is Professor of Reading and Elementary Education at UNC-Charlotte. He currently serves as Vice President of the National Council for the Social Studies and Chair of the UNC Faculty Assembly.

Dale Pike is the Associate Dean for Instructional and Information Technology in the College of Arts & Sciences at UNC Charlotte.

Sharon P. Pitt, Director of the Learning Technology Service and Associate Vice Provost for DELTA, directs TLT activities in the areas of faculty development, instructional design, online and video-based production, media distribution, and educational technology infrastructure. She manages day-to-day operations of DELTA. Sharon represents NC State in state, regional and national organizations involving teaching and learning with technology and distance education. Most recently, she co-chaired the team to develop NC State's quality enhancement plan for reaffirmation of accreditation in 2004. She is the NC State representative to the UNC TLT (Teaching Learning Technology) Collaborative and NLII (National Learning Infrastructure Initiative). She is a member of the FCTL (Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning) Advisory Council at NC State. Sharon acts as the primary liaison between DELTA and the Information Technology Division. Sharon came to NC State from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia where she served as Director of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning. While there, she was a member of General Education Council, the Intellectual Property Committee, and various task forces and committees on distance learning. She was also JMU's representative to the Electronic Campus of Virginia. At JMU, Sharon directed the development of the Madison Digital Image Database, an image database and multimedia teaching tool, now utilized by universities across the nation. Prior to 1997, Sharon worked at Virginia Tech (1992-1997) in the Educational Technologies division . Sharon received her BA and MArch degrees from Virginia Tech. Sharon is a member of the Executive Advisory Council for the E-Learn annual conference.

A leading executive in education technology and e-Learning, Matthew co-founded Blackboard in 1997 with a mission to transform the Internet into a powerful environment for teaching and learning. Today, with 2,700 client institutions, 415 staff, four acquisitions and more than $100 million in investment financing, Blackboard is considered by most industry analysts to be the leading provider of e-Education systems around the world. As Chairman, Matthew leads Blackboard’s corporate and product strategy, including the company’s merger and acquisition activity, from an educator’s perspective. He also serves as Blackboard’s chief evangelist to the academic and financial communities, and leads the company’s internal communications and culture-building activities. Matthew based Blackboard’s original business plan on research he conducted while a student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Dr. Irene Pittman Aiken is an Assoc. Prof. in the School of Education at UNCP where she focuses on Educational Psychology, Child Development, and teaching math and science in the elementary school. She has been heavily involved in online teaching for the last four years teaching web enhanced and online courses.

Elmer Poe Associate Vice Chancellor Distance Education and Information Technology East Carolina University. I am experienced in using new technology to deliver distance education, and have been working with online courses for more than 10 years. Currently Iam trying out the video conference technolgy in doing international courses.

Matt is the Assistant Director of the East Carolina University Center for Wireless and Mobile Computing. Matt is responsible for the coordination of four CWMC/Airgate Communications 3G Smart Phone Handheld Computer research projects, and promoting the implementation of breakthrough technology tested by the Center for delivering distance learning content using wired, wireless, and standalone media. Matt was involved with OWLS (Online Wireless Learning Solutions) initiative, a predecessor to the Center, and served the team leader of the Mentor Cadre working with universities, colleges, and public schools nationwide.

Dr. Prochaska has served as Executive Director of the UNC TLT Collaborative since August, 2001. Previously he was a faculty member at Western Carolina University, serving as Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Professor of Chemistry. Dr. Prochaska received his B.A. in Chemistry degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York, and performed his graduate work in physical chemistry at the University of California at Berkeley.

Ray Purdom is Director of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a member of the UNC TLT Collaborative Board. Dr. Purdom is also Adjunct Associate Professor of Physics with degrees from Duke University and Purdue University.

Jennifer Farris Raby is a Communications & Design Team Lead in East Carolina University's Information Technology & Computing Services department. She holds bachelors' degrees in English and Anthropology, and is currently pursuing her master's degree in Technical & Professional Communication.

Dr. Jimmy Reeves, associate professor of chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, has spent the last fifteen years developing technology-based resources for teaching chemistry. Currently he is co-Principle Investigator for the Anywhere, Anytime Chemistry Experience (AACE), a federally funded project to develop quantitative general chemistry laboratory experiments designed to be done at home for distance learning students. He is also chemistry editor for Ilumina, a digital library of educational resources for science and mathematics that is part of the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) and a member of the product development team for the UNCW Mobile Learning Environment, a project to integrate the educational services and resources available to users of wireless technology and implement new learning strategies that take full advantage of the integrated environment.

Laura is a Program Coordinator with the TLTC with previous experience in collaborative development of web course pedagogy and assessment and teaching online and web-enhanced education courses. Laura’s responsibilities as TLTC Program Coordinator have included organizing the TLT Interest Groups, coordinating the TLT Assessment Initiative, and facilitating the development of TLTC’s Strategic and Operating Plans.

David Romito is Assistant Biology Librarian in the Couch Biology Library, Zoology Section at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has a M.S. in Library and Information Science (1991) and a B.S. in Ecology, Ethnology, and Evolution (1987) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Since receiving the PhD in 1978, Ed Rosenberg has developed Gerontology programs at several colleges and universities. He has been at Appalachian State University since 1991, and is currently Professor of Sociology and Director of Gerontology. Dr. Rosenberg has been involved in telecommunications and web-based distance learning for several years, developed his university's first 100% on-line graduate certificate program, and has chaired the Coordinating Committee for the North Carolina Gerontology Consortium since its inception.

Barbara Ross, Chief Operating Officer Barbara Ross launched WebCT with founder and CEO Carol Vallone in 1995. Initially named Universal Learning Technology (ULT), the company name was changed following the acquisition of WebCT, Inc. in May, 1999 to reflect both its installed base and strategic direction. Her responsibilities include developing strategy and providing operational management for marketing, support, publisher partnerships and technology. Ross brings over 20 years of experience managing educational technology and methodology companies. Prior to founding ULT, Ross served as Vice President of Information Mapping, Inc., a company offering a research-based methodology for analyzing, organizing and presenting complex information, where she oversaw marketing, research and development, business development, and served as general manager of the consulting division as well as the seminar division. Ross also served as director of development for new courses at IMI and was responsible for developing the seminars that generated over 80% of the company's revenue. Ross is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

Barrington Ross teaches seventh grade science and MSEN science. He urges all parents and interested persons to get involved in Shepard's Science Task Force. This group is dedicated to improving the science program at Shepard. Mr. Ross serves as an organizer for Shepard's Environmental IB(International Baccalaureate) Focus. As co-chair of the Safe and Caring Schools site-base decisionmaking committee at Shepard, Mr. Ross is committed to a safe, functional, and pleasing workplace for students, adminstrators, and teachers. He has coordinated NCCU's environmental study's summer ENVIROCAMP. He is currently seeking North Carolina environmental certification. He is also serves as the Duke University site coordinator for the American Chemistry Society's Project SEED, a Lead Teacher for the UNC-Chapel Hill MSEN Program, a contact for the SECME Early High School, Early College Program, and our Science Olympiad Coach. Mr. Ross has taught computer and MSEN at Githens Middle School. He is also a TELS (Technology Enhanced Learning in Science) Fellow at NCCU pursuing a graduate degree in Education. Mr. Ross is an educational Biology graduate of North Carolina A&T State University . He is originally from Winnsboro, South Carolina and has lived in Arizona. He is married and has two children.

Hired as NC LIVE operations manager in October, 1998 after working in systems administration at NCSU for 11 years. Guided development of the NC LIVE remote access and EZ Search software solutions, and serves as an ex-officio member to NC LIVE advisory committees.

Brian Rybarczyk, PhD is a Research Associate with the Partnership for Minority Advancement in the Biomolecular Sciences (PMABS) at UNC Chapel Hill. Dr. Rybarczyk is part of the Education Research Group, which researches the effectiveness of active learning pedagogies and emerging technologies in science education. Dr. Rybarczyk also develops and teaches courses in synchronous, distance-learning environments.

Dr. Ihab Saad, Assistant Professor of Construction Management, Department of Construction Management, ECU

Jim Sadler is Associate Vice President for Academic Planning in the UNC Office of the President. He has been at the Office of the President for seven years, and before that he served on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus as Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs. His current duties include coordination of distance education activities in the UNC system, long-range planning, new degree program authorizations, and relations with North Carolina's military bases.

Dana Sally is currently the Associate Director of the Walter Clinton Jackson Library at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Previously he has been the Co-Head of Public Services and Head of Science Reference at Virginia Polytechnic and State University in Blacksburg, VA; Head of the Evansdale Library at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV; and Librarian of the Alfred T. Brauer Library at UNC-Chapel Hill. He holds Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill and an M.L.S. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Cindy is the Systems Librarian at the Sampson-Livermore Library for The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She has been involved with the UNC TLT for four years, has assisted in the development of the Professional Development Portal, and is currently co-chair of the UNC TLT Librarians Interest Group.

Henry Schaffer is Professor of Genetics and Biomathematics, Coordinator of Special Information Technology Projects and Faculty Collaboration, and Interim Director Emeritus of the Learning Technology Service of DELTA - all at NCSU. He's been around NCSU, UNC and TLTC for a long time.

Born in Panama, Marge Scheuerlein started her instruction career as a ballet instructor and later as a Spanish and Computer instructor with Fayetteville Technical Community College. After 7 years with FTCC, she was hired in 1999 by Fayetteville State University as a Training and Development Consultant where she has taught various workshops for staff and faculty. Marge spreads her enthusiasm with faculty and enjoys showing them how to enhance their teaching using different technologies both in the classroom and via the web.

Ginny Sconiers is an Instructional Technology Consultant at East Carolina University. She works on special projects for Distance Education, Academic Information Technology, and Faculty Development. Current research includes: Self-Paced eLearning, SCORM, Reusable Learning Objects, and Content Management Systems.

Doug Shepelak is Macromedia's Strategic Education Account Manager for the Eastern US. Doug's primary focus is developing education partnerships and campus or systemwide volume licensing agreements with higher education institutions. Doug has over 14years of experience assisting educational institutions with their technology initiatives. His previous experience includes major account management with Zenith Data Systems, National Computer Systems (NCS), Academic Systems Inc. and corporate learning experience as an International Business Development Director with Pathlore.

John is an assistant professor of human resources with Western Carolina University. He teaches graduate courses in both 100% online and blended formats.

Greg Simmons is a faculty member and Instructional Technology Consultant for Instructional Computing Services. In addition to teaching, his primary responsibility is to help faculty integrate technology into teaching and learning.

Bryan Sinclair is a Public Services Librarian and Associate Professor at UNC Asheville, where he coordinates the library's electronic resources and Website and teaches freshmen about information literacy. He holds a M.L.I.S. and M.A. in Religion and Culture from the University of South Carolina. His research interests are in the areas of African American music and culture.

Harman Singh is the President and CEO of a Raleigh based eLearning solutions company, Sikhya Solutions. Sikhya Solutions provides custom eLearning software and solutions. It has an eLearning products division called authorGEN. authorGEN family of products help content authors and instructional technologists to develop and deliver knowledge to their audience easily and rapidly. Harman Singh has his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from India and a Masters degree in Computer Science from NC State University. He researched in the field of eLearning as a part of his thesis under the guidance of Dr. Laurie Williams. During the course of his thesis he saw an opportunity in eLearning and started the company. During his college years at NC State, he was the president of University Entrepreneurs Network. Under the mentorship of Dr. Tom Miller, he started the company in 2002.

Elizabeth Snyder is Assistant Professor of German at UNC-Asheville. In addition to her courses in German language, literature and culture, Dr. Snyder teaches in UNCA's Humanities Program, Honor's Program and Master of Liberal Arts Program. She is an active member of the UNC German Studies Consortium and is currently offering to 5 UNC institutions a distance-learning course on 20th century Berlin.

John Spagnolo has served as Technology Specialist for Faculty Development in the Reich College of Education (RCOE), Appalachian State University (ASU) since 1998. In this role he has assisted faculty with meeting state mandated technology standards (NETS-T) for teacher education candidates. He is responsible for planning and delivering programs and activities designed to raise the technology skill levels of faculty so they can increase the quality and effectiveness of the technologies they integrate into their teaching and learning.

Lorraine Stanton is the Manager of eLearning Support at the Faculty Center for Teaching and eLearning, in Information Technology Services at UNC Charlotte.

Paul Strausbauch is professor of pathology and pathology course director at the Brody School of Medicine. He has produced computer based laboratory teaching materials in support of the 60-hour laboratory portion of this course. The emphasis will be on the use and student acceptance of these materials over the past 7 years.

Rebecca Swanson, as Director of Distance Education Planning and Development, North Carolina State University, directs the implementation, administration, and assessment of the university's distance education programs. She works with faculty, departments, and colleges to provide support and services for DE initiatives, and to ensure that faculty and students are provided with an optimum, technology-enriched environment for teaching and learning.

Linda Teel is the head of the Teaching Resources Center in Joyner Library at East Carolina University. Her 26 years of work experience in the library and educational setting vary from public schools (K-12), community colleges, to the university. She earned a BS in Library Science, a MAEd/MLS from East Carolina University, and a MLS from North Carolina Central University.

I am the Director of Instructional Technology for the UNCP School of Education as well as an instructor in the area of Special Education. My BS and MA are in the area of Speech Pathology, and I hold certification in the areas of speech, preschool handicapped, teacher of the hearing impaired, instructional technology, and National Board Certification in the area of Special Education. I am currently working on my EdD at ECU in the area of Educational Leadership with a concentration in Instructional Design.

Dr. Stephen Truhon is an associate professor of psychology in the Department of Social Sciences at Winston-Salem State University. His presentation is the result of his participation in a summer workshop sponsored by the National Computational Science Institute.

Beverly Vagnerini is the Director of Client Services Department in the Information Technology Systems Division at UNCW. She also represents UNCW on the UNC TLT board.

Marti Van Scott is the Director for the Office of Technology Transfer at East Carolina University. In this role, Ms. Van Scott has oversight for the management of innovation development and deployment at ECU. She is also responsible for matters related to patents and copyrights. She has established numerous outreach programs to educate the campus community about intellectual property and technology transfer matters and she is the chair of the Intellectual Property Committee and the Copyright Committee.

Vijay Verma is the Associate Vice President for Information Resources in the UNC Office of the President. He is responsible for Enterprise Systems and Networks, as well as the integration and development of administrative and academic information technology strategy and policy throughout the University. Prior to joining the UNC-OP, he served as Vice President and Chief Information Officer for the University of Maryland University College and before that as the Director of Information Technology and CIO at the American Council on Education in Washington, DC.

Dr. Carol Vreeland received her D.V.M. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her M.L.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Since 1999, she has held the position of Life Sciences Librarian in the Research and Information Services Department at the North Carolina State University Libraries.

Chris Weaver, Lead Technology Consultant for East Carolina University. Active with the Collaborative since it's inception.

Jory Weintraub received a BS in Biochemistry/Cell Biology from UC San Diego and a Ph.D. in Immunology from UNC Chapel Hill. He was awarded an NSF postdoctoral fellowship in Science Education/IT, and is currently working as Coordinator of Education Research for PMABS (The Partnership for Minority Advancement in the Biomolecular Sciences), which is based at UNC Chapel Hill. Jory's research interests focus on innovative uses of IT to engage students and enhance science education at North Carolina's historically minority universities.

Emily Werrell is Coordinator of Instruction & Outreach for the Perkins Library System at Duke University, overseeing library instructional services for all Perkins Library departments and seven branch libraries. She is responsible for developing and coordinating library instruction and outreach programs for Duke’s first year writing courses and learning communities, the writing-in-the-disciplines program, research-intensive undergraduate courses and graduate programs.

Stephen has degrees in Music from the University of Michigan, Louisiana State University, and is ABD on a doctorate at the University of Illinois. He also has received a M.S. in Library and Information Science from U of I. He has worked at Georgia College, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and more recently at Ohio State University in Columbus. He is currently Digital Initiatives Services Librarian at J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of Charlotte, where he has been since October, 2003.

J. Kent Williams is Professor and Coordinator of Music Theory and Technology at the UNG-Greensboro. He has made numerous presentations on using technology to teach various aspects of music theory at national and international conferences.

William N. Zelman is Professor of Healthcare Finance in the Department of Health Policy and Administration, School of Public Health, UNC-CH. He has been involved in distance learning for over 25 years, since being involved with the first use of satellites for distance education in the 1970's. He currently is interested in the use of hybrid technologies for collaborative learning at a distance.
