TLT Conference Update, 4/23
We are working hard to ensure that the part of our web site to be used for hotel selection, track selection, and other personal information is functioning correctly. Although I had announced that these features would be available last week, we are experiencing some delays. I know that you are all anxious to tell us which hotels are your favorites and to find out your final assignment, and were anxious to collect that information also. We will make web pages for this purpose available as soon as we can. Meanwhile, here is a list of dates you may be interested in:
Saturday, April 28
|
complete hotel selection through our web site |
Monday, April 30
|
receive notification of your hotel assignment |
Friday, May 11
|
earliest deadline for making individual weekend reservations (except for the Residence Inn, whose deadline is unknown at this time) |
Other news:
If you have not yet registered online, please visit unctlt.org/conference2001/register.cfm.
If you are interested in making a presentation at the conference or assisting with discussion track facilitation, we would like to hear from you!
If you are interested in making a presentation, please see unctlt.org/conference2001/demos.cfm for descriptions of hands-on demonstration and short talk opportunities. Youll be able to notify us of your interest through the web site when the new pages referenced above become available.
To express interest in facilitating a discussion track, please e-mail me at by tomorrow (Tuesday 4/24) at the latest. Although we already have volunteers for most of the tracks, we are interested in increasing our numbers. In particular, we need additional volunteers for the tracks entitled Current Practice in Technology-Facilitated Teaching and Learning and Citizens Building Communities: Collaborative Relationships, but feel free to volunteer to assist with any track. Track descriptions can be found at unctlt.org/conference2001/tracks.cfm.
Before volunteering, please read over the following description of responsibilities for track facilitators:
Once we know who is facilitating each track, the TLT Collaborative will arrange an initial introduction to facilitating phone meeting and provide resources to allow for further collaboration among the facilitators, if desired. Each track will also have its own trained notetaker, whom the facilitator(s) should speak with prior to the conference.
We hope that each set of facilitators will provide a list of pre-conference preparation activities for the participants in their track. These might include
- Considering specific thought questions
- Writing and submitting a position statement to be shared with others in advance
- Bringing materials to the conference
Tentative outlines of the three breakout sessions have been created for each track; the facilitator(s) may choose to develop them further.
Following the conference, each set of facilitators will be asked to write a brief summary of their group's findings and to contribute to a final report on the conference.
