The services of the Center for Teaching (CFT) include consultations with individual faculty and departments, annual award programs, TA training and support, yearly campus-wide events, resource development and distribution, and research and funded grants. UMA received The 2000 Hesburgh Award for having best met the 3 main award criteria: significance of the program to higher education; appropriate program rationale, and successful results and impact on undergraduate teaching and student learning. The website provides links to programs in teaching and learning in the diverse classroom and in teaching technologies. It also provides online versions of their publications like "Handbook for Teaching Assistants," "Teaching Portfolio," " The Annual Report for the Center for Teaching" and "Teaching Disabilities Handbook," which offers teaching development strategies useful in meeting the learning needs of all students, especially students with disabilities.
